The first step in gay awakening is to recognize the deeper aspects of gay life that the culture of shame and sex makes invisible. The deeper aspects of gay life are the ingredients that make gay relationships possible and stable.
Gay relationships don’t exist in a vacuum of empty space. Cultural norms that promote sexual compatibility need to be rejected. Instead – those cultural norms that promote emotional connections and spiritual growth – must be developed and build to create a healthy container for a serious and long term relationship.
Gay primitivism and tribalism has dominated the landscape of gay cultural activities. Nothing good can happen when people treat each other like sex objects and refuse to acknowledge the need for more sophisticated way of meeting, connecting and bonding with each other.
